Redskins Are Facing A Must-Win Game Against The Rival Giants On Monday Night Football

The Washington Redskins are going into a must win game against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football if they want to reach the NFC Playoffs. I know that a loss wouldn’t mathematically eliminate them, but in all reality it would.

The Redskins have been on a roll since coming out of the bye week with wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys that has allowed them to get back into the NFC Playoff race. Can they make the G-Men their third NFC East victim in the last three weeks to get back to .500?

A win would pull the Redskins to within a game of the NFC East leading Giants as well as the NFC’s second Wildcard spot that’s currently occupied by the Seattle Seahawks.

But this game against the Giants will go a long way in deciding the fate of the 2012 Redskins in my opinion. The 5-6 Redskins have left themselves almost no margin for error going down the stretch and I think their best bet to make the NFC Playoffs is to win the NFC East Division.

A loss to the Giants would make it almost impossible to catch and pass them with four games left in the regular season. It would put the Redskins three games behind them, but with the Giants holding the tiebreaker it’s more like a four game lead.

I’d love to see the ‘Skins run the table and finish the season 10-6, but I can see them finishing 9-7 and winning the division. But for that to happen the loss must be to an AFC team because of tiebreakers. The ‘Skins have three divisional games left including this showdown with the G-Men and must win them all to have the tiebreaker over the G-Men if they both finish with the same record.

The Redskins have proven they can play with the G-Men and really outplayed them in Week 7, but some big mistakes cost them the game. They had four turnovers and several costly penalties in that game, but led 23-20 with 90 seconds left in the game.

I’m expecting another hard-fought game, but if the Redskins don’t shoot themselves in the foot with mistakes they will win this game. I’m looking forward to seeing RG3′s Monday Night Football debut and a huge Burgundy and Gold win!
