NFL Week 7: New York Jets at New England Patriots

A big AFC East game that will give the winner at least a share of first place in the division heading into next week’s games. The Patriots are clearly the better team, but that doesn’t always translate into wins and then when you factor in that these two teams are heated rivals anything is possible.

The Jets are playing without star CB Darrelle Revis and WR Santonio Holmes who are out with season ending injuries. The Jets are 2-0 in the division and getting a road win here would be huge for them, but can QB Mark Sanchez and company pull it off?

The Jets are 11-1 when RB Shonn Greene gets at least 19 carries and 11-3 when Sanchez throws less than 25 times. I think it’s pretty obvious what the game plan for Gang Green needs to be coming into this big game.

The Patriots have lost three games by a combined four points and lost second half leads in two of them. Plus they had a missed field goal at the end of their 20-18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals that would’ve won the game. This team could very easily be coming into this game with a perfect 6-0 record.

QB Tom Brady’s still playing at a high level and their defense has shown some improvement from last season, but can give up big plays in the passing game. They’re #5 against the run and giving up an average of 82.7 yards per game. That’s going to be one of the biggest keys to this game in my opinion because the Jets must try to establish the run in order to have any chance at heading home with a win.

My Pick: Patriots 33-17
