NFL Week 7: Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears

A big Monday Night Football showdown between NFC North rivals! This is almost a must win game for the Lions and they must do what it takes to leave Soldier Field with a win later tonight.

The Lions can’t afford to fall two games under .500 and be 0-2 in the division if there’s going to be a return trip to the NFC Playoffs this season. They’re coming off a late game rally to beat the Philadelphia Eagles and looking to build some much-needed momentum. A win over the Bears would be huge, but they can’t afford to make things harder on themselves with penalties and dumb mistakes. They had 16 penalties that cost them 132 yards against the Eagles.

The Bears are 2-0 at home and they’ve played some good football since their week two loss at the Green Bay Packers. QB Jay Cutler’s been lighting it up with WR Brandon Marshall over the last two games to the tune of 19 catches for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns. That’s big time production and the Lions defense better come prepared or it could be a very long night.

The Bears have RB Matt Forte for the Lions to deal with and must be accounted for at all times. Plus the Bears have an attacking defense that will be coming after Lions QB Matthew Stafford who will make some mistakes by forcing some throws at times. That’s simply can’t happen in this game because the Bears defensive unit has already scored five touchdowns.

My Pick: Bears 34-23
