Redskins Need Defensive Unit To Step Up, Now!

The Washington Redskins need to come home with a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tomorrow evening and must do whatever it takes to get it done.

They can’t afford to fall to 1-3 with the Atlanta Falcons coming into the Nation’s Capital for a week 5 game. The offense has been great so far with rookie QB RG3 leading the way, but the team’s problems are on the other side of the ball with a defense that can’t stop anybody.

The Redskins come into this game with the #30 ranked defense in the NFL after three weeks of play. They’ve played the run better than the pass, but that’s misleading because opponents have moved the ball through the air almost at will which limits their rushing attempts.

This will be the worst offensive team the Redskins have faced so far and if the defense can’t rise up against them then we’re in serious trouble going forward. The defense actually played well last season and finished the year ranked #13 overall, but this isn’t last year.

We knew coming into this season that we’d have some issues in the secondary, but nowhere close to this was expected.  This has been nothing short of a train wreck. I’m not saying they need to play like a top 5 unit, but a return to their normal mediocre self would suffice.

My friends over at FanSpeak have put together the keys to a Redskins win.
