We’ve reached the final weekend of the regular season and the postseason push is still on for a number of teams. Here’s a look at the meaningful matchups this weekend:
A big series for both teams! This is a 4 game series and the White Sox come in trailing the Detroit Tigers in the A.L. Central by 2 games and have almost no shot at securing a Wildcard berth. The Rays are 2 games behind the Oakland A’s for the second Wildcard and 4 behind the Yankees in the A.L. East with six games remaining. It’s now or never time for both teams.
The biggest weekend series in the N.L. because it’s the key to the second Wildcard spot. The Cardinals are in that second Wildcard spot going into this series with a 3 game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers and 4 games over the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Nats are leading the Atlanta Braves by 4 games in the N.L. East and holding the top seed in the N.L. at the moment. This series could decide a lot and should be a lot of fun to watch.
The Rangers are close to clinching the A.L. West and the Angels are sitting 2 games out of the second A.L. Wildcard spot.
The Orioles are holding the top A.L. Wildcard spot, but have their eyes on a bigger prize, the A.L. East. The O’s are 1 game behind the Bronx Bombers and this may go down to the last day of the season before it gets decided.
The Yankees are trying to hold off the pesky Orioles and win the A.L. East.
The surprising A’s are holding onto a 2 game lead for the second A.L. Wildcard over the Angels and Rays. Can they hold on over these last six games to clinch a postseason berth? After this series with the Mariners they will host the Rangers for three games to close out the regular season.
