The MLB playoff race has been everything I thought it would be and more with the new playoff format in place. There’s roughly 18-20 games left in the regular season depending on the team and over 10 teams with a legitimate shot at securing a postseason berth.
Going into this weekend’s action the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers have clawed their way back into contention for a N.L. Wildcard berth. Both teams were below .500 for most of the season and were written off by many people, myself included.
Weekend’s Best Matchups
The top two teams in the N.L. East will play a big three game series. The Nats are leading the Braves by 8.5 games and getting awfully close to clinching the division. The Braves are sitting in the top N.L. Wildcard spot and look like a safe bet to reach the playoffs in Chipper Jones’ last season.
Can you believe we’re about three weeks away from the MLB Playoffs starting and these two teams are holding the top two A.L. Wildcard spots? Not only that the Orioles are tied with the Yankees for the A.L. East lead and the A’s are just three behind the Rangers in the A.L. West, wow!
Both teams have a good chance of making the A.L. Playoffs this season!
The Rays are 4 games behind in both the A.L. East and A.L. Wildcard races coming into this seies with the Yankees. The Yankees are tied with the Orioles. The Yankees could do themselves and the Orioles a big favor if they could pull off a three game sweep this weekend.
A huge four game series for both N.L. Wildcard contenders. The Cardinals won the first game and lead the Dodgers by 2 games for the second N.L. Wildcard spot.
The Giants are leading the N.L. West by 7 games and should be able to hang on and win the division. The Diamondbacks are 4.5 games out of the second N.L. Wildcard spot coming into this weekend
