Chicago White Sox Pitcher Chris Sale Named The American League Pitcher Of The Month For May

Pitcher Chris Sale of the Chicago White Sox has been voted American League Pitcher of the Month for May. This is Sale’s first career monthly pitching honor and it is the second consecutive award for a White Sox pitcher after Jake Peavy won for the month of April.

Sale compiled a 4-1 record with a league-leading 1.71 ERA, nine walks and 35 strikeouts in 31.2 innings pitched over five starts (six appearances). Among qualifying pitchers, the 13th overall pick in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft led the A.L. in ERA, tied for first in wins, was third in opponents batting average (.181) and was eighth in strikeouts.

I was fortunate to sign him off the free agent list for my fantasy baseball team a few weeks back and he’s been great. It’s an added bonus that he’s able to be used as either a starter or a reliever which allows for some flexibility in how I can use my pitching staff.

I'm a huge sports fan, born and raised in the D.C. area. I've had a love for sports for as long as I can remember! I'm a big Washington Redskins, Wizards, Capitals, and Nationals fan! I also root for the New York Yankees, D.C. had no baseball team while I was growing up and the Bronx Bombers more than filled the void! I like to meet new people and love to learn new things!
