The San Diego Padres today announced they have selected left-handed pitcher Alex Hinshaw from Triple-A Tucson and optioned outfielder Blake Tekotte to the same Tucson club. In addition, the Padres have transferred right-handed pitcher Micah Owings from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcements.
Hinshaw, 29, has posted a 3.72 ERA (8 ER/19.1 IP), a .206 (14-for-68) opponents batting average, 18 strikeouts against 10 walks and no home runs allowed in 14 relief outings for Tucson this season. He made his Big League debut for the Padres last season and has hit .162 (6-for-37) with a double, triple, RBI, run scored and three stolen bases in 24 Big League games played
