The San Diego Padres today announced they have selected left-handed pitcher Alex Hinshaw from Triple-A Tucson and optioned outfielder Blake Tekotte to the same Tucson club. In addition, the Padres have transferred right-handed pitcher Micah Owings from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.  Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcements.

Hinshaw, 29, has posted a 3.72 ERA (8 ER/19.1 IP), a .206 (14-for-68) opponents batting average, 18 strikeouts against 10 walks and no home runs allowed in 14 relief outings for Tucson this season.  The former San Diego State Aztec was signed by the Padres as a minor league free agent in December this past offseason.  Over parts of two Major League seasons with the San Francisco Giants (2008-09), the left-hander has gone 2-1 with a 4.53 ERA (23 ER/45.2 IP), a .246 (41-for-167) opponents average and 49 strikeouts against 36 walks over 57 career relief outings.

Tekotte, 24, was recalled from Triple-A Tucson on April 28 for his first stint with the Padres this year, going 0-for-3 with a stolen base in five games.  He made his Big League debut for the Padres last season and has hit .162 (6-for-37) with a double, triple, RBI, run scored and three stolen bases in 24 Big League games played
