The Nationals Made The Right Decision To Keep Detwiler Over Lannan

After watching Ross Detwiler pitch against the New York Mets last night I have to say the Washington Nationals made the right decision to keep him over John Lannan.

Detwiler’s going to be a very good pitcher for the Nats for a long time as long as he can stay healthy. He was impressive in getting out of his first inning jam without giving up a run.

The Mets had men on first and third with no outs and Detwiler was able to pitch his way out of it without giving up a run. After that he settled down and pitched great going five innings and allowing only two hits and no runs while striking out six to get the win.

The win moves the Nats to 3-2 on the season and they will be finishing up their six game road trip this afternoon with staff ace Stephen Strasburg on the mound facing off with Johan Santana of the Mets.

The Nats will play their home opener tomorrow afternoon when they will host the Cincinnati Reds at Nationals Park. That will be the start an 11 game home stand.
