The 12-4 Washington Nationals will start a six game road trip beginning tonight with the first of three games at the San Diego Padres. After the series against the Padres the Nats will have a showdown with the Los Angeles Dodgers who have the NL’s best record at 13-4 going into today’s MLB action.
This will be the Nats second road trip of the season and they will look to build on their 4-2 road record. The pitching staff has led the way so far this season and through 16 games the staff ERA is 2.34 and opponents are hitting .202 against them.
The Nats are hitting the road with a 2.5 game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the NL East Division. Another solid road trip would be huge because that Nats went 36-45 in road games last season and being able to win consistently on the road can take you a long way.
The Padres are 18-8 against the Nats at Petco Park, but the Nats have won the last three games.
