One bad game didn’t cost quarterback Rex Grossman his job as some people are saying. Grossman played well in week one against the New York Giants and decent in week two against the Arizona Cardinals, but that’s really it.
His play had went backwards each week since the opener and I felt the switch to John Beck should have come sooner, but I’m glad to see that Shanny and Son finally made the move. Grossman is still the turnover machine that he’s been for his whole NFL career.
He’s turned the ball over 11 times in five games here to start the 2011 season. For his career he’s got 46 touchdown passes with 49 interceptions to go along with 16 lost fumbles in 46 games played with 39 of them being starts.
Grossman can make plays in the NFL, but he can also make mistakes that hurt a football team. I think he’s a decent NFL backup quarterback, but that’s it. I really hoped the guy would do well here with the Washington Redskins because I bleed the Burgundy and Gold, but it didn’t happen.
I’m not sure if John Beck will be any better, but it’s time to give him his shot and find out.
