Fantasy Football Week One Recap

The 2011 NFL regular season has one week in the books and so does fantasy football. My sophomore year got off to a good start as I won two of three games. Last year I played in just one league until I got a feel for everything and now I’m in three leagues.

CBSSports – My team lost 124-100 and I’ve made some changes to tweak my roster. I released kicker Adam Vinatieri because his value is almost nothing without quarterback Peyton Manning directing the Indianapolis Colts offense. I signed John Kasay who will be kicking for the Saints. This is a stopgap move for the time being.

I also released quarterback Kyle Orton and will start Rex Grossman this week. I was denied in my attempt at picking up WR Devery Henderson of the Saints because another team made a claim. I did pickup WR Early Doucet of the Cardinals and inserted him in Brandon Loyd’s spot. – My team won 110.88-69.90 and I made some small changes to the roster. I have Aaron Rodgers as my quarterback and he had a great start in week one. I released quarterback Peyton Manning because I can’t see him returning to the field this season and signed Rex Grossman as my backup. Never thought I’d have to make a move like that. I’ll start LaDainian Tomlinson this week for the injured Steven Jackson. – My team won 100.1-91 and I started Josh Freeman at quarterback over Ben Roethlisberger because of the Baltimore Ravens defense. That was a huge move and it allowed me to win the game. Freeman was coming off a 25 TD 6 Int season and playing a home game against the Detroit Lions. That was my thinking, but Freeman did just enough for me to win. Now Freeman will be heading to the bench while I ride with Big Ben for awhile!

I’m now inserting Big Ben this week because it’s the Steelers home opener after they were dismantled in Baltimore last week. Plus the Seattle Seahawks are the opponent. I know the Steelers will come out in a frenzy and I expect this game to get ugly rather quickly.
