Connecticut Completes An Incredible Run By Winning The NCAA Championship

The Connecticut Huskies finished off their great postseason run by winning their 3rd NCAA Championship under head coach Jim Calhoun. Their 53-41 win over the Butler Bulldogs was anything, but pretty. It may actually be the ugliest NCAA Championship game ever played with both teams shooting so poorly, but a win is a win no matter what and that is all that matters.

The Bulldogs shot the ball historically bad and ended up at 18.8% for the game and you have to give the Huskies defense credit because their size inside made the difference. The Huskies had 10 blocked shots and disrupted many others. The Huskies shot 34.5% for the game and if not for their defense they would have lost this game in my opinion.

The Huskies won 11 straight games starting with the Big East Tournament and ending with last nights NCAA Championship win over the Bulldogs. During their 11 game run they beat 7 top 25 teams and they finish the season with an impressive 23-0 record in non conference games. They got better and better as the year went on and got extremely hot at the right time.
