Back To Back State Championships For George Mason Lady Mustangs

The George Mason Lady Mustangs beat the Lancaster Devils 58-47 to win their 2nd straight Group A Division 2 Virginia State Championship. Head coach LaBryan Thomas has guided the Lady Mustangs to state titles in each of his 2 seasons as their leader. He has the Lady Mustangs playing a tough physical brand of basketball that the program has not always displayed prior to his arrival. The key to the game was Lancaster’s inability to handle the swarming defensive pressure the Lady Mustangs threw on them from the outset as Mason took control of the game and never looked back. The Mustangs were led by the dynamic duo of PG Chantal Thomas and G/F Nicole Mitchell as they combined to score 31 points, grab 21 rebounds, and dish out 9 assists.
