Give Gilbert A Chance

Why is Gilbert Arenas being treated like the worlds worst person? I think some people are going way overboard with this. I don’t agree with everything he did or any of his actions, I believe he should have been punished. I don’t think he deserved to be suspended for the remainder of the year or given jail time. I think a suspension of 25 games or so and community service would have been good enough. I read the piece that Gilbert wrote in todays Washington Post and I have no problem with what he wrote and think it’s a good start for him to try and rebuild his standing in the Washington D.C. community. He is not a bad guy and I believe he is really sorry and wants to be forgiven and make things right. Some of the comments that people wrote in response to his article are mean spirited personal attacks on him and his level of intelligence which is B.S. in my book! It is ok to  offer your opinion but the other stuff does not need to be written. Everybody makes mistakes in life and not one of us is perfect, but lets give this guy a chance to get his life and career back in order. There have been other athletes given multiple chances for far worse infractions!
